Are you ready to try Blackjack… but not as you know it? Then, get ready to give Evolution Gaming’s popular First Person Blackjack a try. Want to find out more about this interesting game? Then, read on…

About Evolution First Person Blackjack: Game Description

Evolution Gaming is one of the top providers of live dealer casino games – offering incredible bespoke studios and casino-based studios that live stream high-resolution live dealer blackjack to players on both mobile devices and desktop platforms. The studio takes pride in featuring only professional, camera-ready croupiers at their tables, all trained at the Evolution Academy.

However, recognising that not all players are ready to delve into the live game, Evolution Gaming introduced a series of First Person RNG (Random Number Generator) game options in 2018, including Blackjack. Essentially, this is a 3D-rendered RNG blackjack table that has all the same rules as their live dealer table. It serves as a secure way for players to learn the game at their own pace.

Theme and Soundtrack

Evolution Gaming’s First Person RNG Blackjack delivers all those essential elements for an incredible online blackjack experience. In contrast to their live dealer blackjack games, this version is played on a fully animated blackjack table, so you have plenty of time to familiarise yourself with the main game rules, plan your next move, and adjust your bet settings.

If you decide to play multiple hands in a single session, the camera will pan around the table so you can get a first-person view of each hand in play.

Similar to the live dealer games, a croupier is present, but this time, only her voice will call out wins and other actions, so your gaming experience is even more immersive.

What sets First Person Blackjack apart from other RNG blackjack variants is the addition of the Go Live button. This seamlessly transitions you from the RNG game to the Live Dealer game.

How to Play First Person Blackjack

First Person Blackjack is played with eight standard 52-card decks with the following card values:

  • Cards from 2 to 10 hold their face value.
  • Face cards (Jacks, Queens, and Kings) are each valued at 10.
  • Aces can be valued at 1 or 11, whichever is better for your hand. It’s important to note that a soft hand is a hand that includes an Ace valued at 11.

The game offers five hands, and you can place bets on one or multiple hands. Once bets are placed, you can click the DEAL NOW button to start the game. Dealing begins with the hand nearest to the ‘shoe’, then goes clockwise until it concludes with the virtual dealer.

Initially, one card will be dealt face-up to each hand – including the virtual dealer. Next, the second card is dealt face-up to each hand, and the last card will be dealt face-down to the virtual dealer. The value of each initial hand is visibly displayed next to the cards for each respective hand.

Blackjack

Achieving a hand value of exactly 21 with your initial two cards results in Blackjack!

Insurance

In the event that the virtual dealer’s upcard is an Ace, you have the option to purchase insurance to mitigate the risk of the virtual dealer potentially having Blackjack – even if you have Blackjack. The insurance amount is set at half of your main bet, and the insurance bet will be settled independently from your hand bet.

After this, the dealer’s downcard will be checked for Blackjack. If there is no Blackjack, the round continues as normal. If the dealer does have a Blackjack but you don’t, the dealer wins. If both you and the virtual dealer have Blackjack, the game will finish as a push, and you will receive your stake back.

When Dealt a 10, The Dealer Checks for Blackjack

In the event that the dealer’s upcard is a 10 or a face card, the dealer will check to see whether the downcard is an Ace and if they have a Blackjack. If the dealer does have a Blackjack, the dealer’s hand wins. Again, if both you and the dealer have Blackjack, the game will result in a push, and your bet is returned. If the dealer doesn’t have a Blackjack, the game round continues.

Hit or Stand or Double Down

If the dealer doesn’t have Blackjack, you’ll then need to play your hand – and you’ll have the chance to increase the values of your hands sequentially by asking for additional cards.

If the value of your initial hand is not 21 – and you are confident that one extra card will give you a good hand, you can choose to Double. In this scenario, you will double your initial bet and receive only one extra card.

Alternatively, you can opt to Hit to receive an additional card, augmenting the value of your hand. It’s possible to Hit multiple times to get as many extra cards as you need – before you either ‘Bust’ or you’re satisfied with your hand.

When you are happy with your hand, you can choose to Stand.

Split

If your initial hand consists of a pair of cards with identical values, you have the option to Split the pair, creating two different hands – each with an individual bet equivalent to the main bet. Following the dealing of a second card to both hands, you can play both these hands as you were with a single game… deciding whether to improve the value of these two hands by opting to Hit or Double.

Once you’re content with the value of both hands, you can choose to Stand. However, if you Split Aces, you will only get one additional card per hand, with no option to Hit or Double.

Win – or Lose?

If the total value of your hand exceeds 21, you go bust and lose your bet on that hand.

Once decisions have been made for all hands, the dealer’s face-down card will be uncovered. The virtual dealer has to stand on a hard 17 and hit on a soft 17 (where an Ace is worth 11).

If the value of your hand is closer to 21 than the dealer’s hand – or if the dealer goes bust, you win. In case of a tied hand value, the game round will result in a push, and your stake will be returned.

It’s important to remember that Blackjack is only achievable with the initial two cards, and any hand of 21 resulting from a pair that’s been split won’t be considered Blackjack. Therefore, Blackjack surpasses any hand of 21 resulting from a split pair.

Payouts

  • Blackjack pays: 3:2
  • Winning hands pay: 1:1
  • Insurance pays: 2:1

Side Bets

This First Person Blackjack game also offers optional side bets: Any Pair and 21 + 3. It’s important to note that placing side bets requires the main bet, and you have the chance to win on any side bet no matter what the outcome of your main bet.

Any Pair

The Any Pair side bet allows you to win if your first two cards form any pair, such as two Queens, two Aces, or two 3s. There are two types of pairs, each with a different payout:

  • Perfect Pairs: Same suit (e.g., two Aces of Spades).
  • Pair: Any pair with different suits of the same or different colours (e.g., Queen of Hearts + Queen of Clubs).

21 + 3

The 21 + 3 side bet gives you a chance to win if the two cards you’ve been dealt, plus the dealer’s up-card, form any of the following winning combinations (similar to poker), each with a different payout:

  • Suited Trips: An identical triplet (e.g., 3 Queens of Hearts).
  • Straight Flush: Numerical sequence of the same suit (e.g., 10, J and Q of Diamonds).
  • Three of a Kind: Same value but of different suits (e.g., 3 of Spades + 6 of Clubs + 9 of Hearts).
  • Flush: Non-sequential cards of the same suit (e.g., 2, 6, and 10 of Clubs).

First-Person Blackjack Summary

This Evolution game is stunning, it looks incredible and there has been a lot of time and effort put into the aesthetics. What’s more – if you are enjoying it and want to get even more adventurous, you can simply click the ‘Go Live’ button and play with actual real dealers.

So, if you’re new to live casino games and want to get to grips with the game first, this is an excellent alternative.
